Update 2.8.2007
This event have reached capacity. Registration for this event is now closed! Thank you!
Hi all,
The Scion Winter Grand Prix II event on Saturday, Feb 10, 2007 is fast approaching. Response from Scion owners like you has been enormous for what should be another great Scion WGP event at F1 Boston (Braintree, MA). We wanted to take this moment to update you on event happenings, including a schedule of events as well as details of the competition format for all the fun features of Winter Grand Prix II.
Some notes:
If you’ve already registered for the event, you need to do nothing more. Just arrive at F1 Boston on the February 10 beginning at 11:30AM. Please note that you must have a valid government-issued driver’s license in order to participate in the go-kart activities. As well, the number of people that will be able to participate in the go-kart competition is on a first-come, first-serve basis and limited by venue capacity. While we expect this will not be an issue for the expected attendance, please arrive early for the best opportunity. Please also note that F1 Boston limits participation of people with certain health and physical conditions - please see http://f1boston.com/racing_prices_licenses_rules.asp#regs for full details if you believe this might affect you. Hand-operated go-karts for wheelchair-bound participants are available on a limited basis.
If you still haven’t registered or need to adjust your registration (including number of guests), please register or re-register at the Winter Grand Prix registration page on www.scionvip.com. Multiple entries will be noted by the system and only the registration with the highest guest count will be retained.
With plenty of prizes and trophies available and even more fun in store, we expect a great event for you and your friends.
Best,
Scion Winter Grand Prix II Event Team

Scion Winter GP II Competition Format
Go-kart Competition
Noon – 4PM Open Qualifying (limited to available registration spots)
The open qualifying session will allow competitors to familiarize themselves with the go-karts, the two tracks at F1 Boston, as well as record their best lap times for qualifying.
Competitors will be directed to Track 1 (advanced, more difficult) or Track 2 (beginner, less difficult) based on their experience levels.
This will help ensure that both advanced and first-time entrants are given similar opportunity to qualify. After entrants are confident that they have recorded their best time on their assigned track, they are welcome to sample the other track. All track time is regulated by F1’s computerized registration system, which assigns run times for each group as well as keeps track of all individual run times.
In addition to the two different track groups, Women and Men entrants will be separated into two competition categories (however, they will not be divided into separate run groups during this time).
During this period, the SIX FASTEST LAP TIMES for EACH of the following groups will be monitored:
Track 1 - Men
Track 1 - Women
Track 2 – Men
Track 2 – Women
At the end of the session closest to 4PM, these individuals (finalists) will be automatically entered into a finals round of competition.
In the event that any of the finalists are not present, the next fastest racer on the qualifying chart present for the finals will be substituted.
If any racer places in the top six positions of both Track 1 and 2, their Track 2 time will be voided to ensure the accommodation of the most entries.
4:00-4:30 Track 1 Final
The 12 Track 2 finalists (6 Men, 6 Women) will run in one group race for the Track 2 Final. The top placing man and woman of this race will then become the “wildcard” entries in the Track 1 final.
4:30-5:00 Track 1 Final
The addition of the wildcard entries increase the total Track 1 Final field to 7 racers for each Men/Women finale (6 fastest Track 1 Men, 6 fastest Track 1 Women, Track 2 Women’s Champion, Track 2 Men’s Champion). These 14 racers will then run in a qualifying session for the Scion Winter Grand Prix II race.
Following qualifying, each group of 7 racers will be assigned grid positions according to qualifying results for the start of the two final races (Men/Women) of Scion Winter Grand Prix II.
The traditional top three finishers in each of the four categories will be awarded trophies and prizes on the podium (Track 1 Men, Track 1 Women, Track 2 Men, Track 2 Women)
Prizes for all finalists and trophies and additional prizes for podium winners!
Pit Stop Challenge
Sign-ups 11:30AM – 1PM (limited spots)
Challenge 1 from 1– 2PM, Challenge 2 from 3-4PM
Anybody who attended Scion Winter Grand Prix I last year can tell you how much fun this event was. As fun as this team competition is, it’s also very challenging. Last year’s competition was highlighted by a dominating performance by a group of friends who are mechanics by profession. While mechanical knowledge might have given them an edge, it was their flawless execution of teamwork that sealed the deal.
This year, there will again be two Pit Stop Challenges in store. Like last year, sign-ups for the competition will be first come, first serve and take place in the Daytona room with a simulated pit area featuring an actual Grand American GT race car.
Teams of 4 will each be given instructions to carry out a full service Pit Stop. Each team will be then timed and judged for the execution of a pit stop – which includes simulated jacking, actual lug nut and tire removal, and safety procedures. Teams will be penalized with additional time for safety and procedural infractions. The team with the quickest overall pit stop time will be crowned Pit Stop Challenge Champions.
Prizes for all participants and trophies for champions!
Gran Turismo 4 PS2 Video Game Tournament
Sign-ups and free play 11:30AM-2PM
Tournament 1 from 2-3PM, Tournament 2 from 4-5PM
The racing competition doesn’t stop when you’re out of the F1 Boston go-karts at Scion Winter Grand Prix II. Both video gaming experts and those who have yet to take a virtual spin and compete in the two GT4 Video Game Tournaments taking place at Winter GP II. Twelve video gaming stations will allow plenty of attendees practice their virtual driving skills from 11:30 – 2PM. At 2PM and again at 4PM, up to 64 players (per tournament) can compete in single elimination tournaments, which will produce its own podiums.
First through third place finishers will receive special prizes while all tournament players will automatically be entered into a special raffle for a surprise gift.
