Perfect weather at Pomona Raceway provided the backdrop for a perfect finale to the 2006 Scion VIP series. Once again hosted by the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series, over 200 Scion VIPs and 90 Scions xA, xB, and tCs took center stage in the midway. The formidable gathering, anchored once again by the Scion VIP hospitality lounge, overshadowed the hundreds of other cars entered in the car show conducted by Extreme Autofest.

While a hospitality lounge equipped with VIP catering, arcade racing simulators and two plasma entertainment centers provided a lot of excitement for Scion owners and passersby alike, the real action was on the famed Pomona drag strip. There, Scion owners cheered on Scion Racing team members Brad Personett, Chris Rado, Kenny Tran, and Leslie Durst-Armendariz in the final race of the 2006 season. With plenty on the line, team Scion delivered a knockout performance – with Personett, Rado and Durst-Armendariz all earning hard-fought trips to the final rounds of their respective classes. Personett would go on to deliver a Scion victory to embellish his championship season – the second consecutive NHRA ProRWD Championship for the Elkhart, Indiana-based driver.

The cheers didn't stop in the stands though; in fact, there were plenty of cheering going on in the Scion VIP hospitality lounge – after Scion corporate manager Steve Haag's welcome message and especially during the product giveaway and the Scion VIP trophy ceremony. Thanks to product sponsors Konig Wheels, Advanced Clutch Technology, AEM, DC Sports, Meguiar's, the NHRA, Jada Toys, Scion and SPC Performance, over two dozen owners drove home with goodies in their trunk. ACT President Dirk Starksen and ACT Marketing Manager Daryl Sampson were personally on hand to hand out the ACT clutch prize certificate while Scion pro racer Chris Rado helped select the other prize winners. While an AEM intake system, NHRA PS2 drag racing games, and even a custom embroidered Scion Racing team jacket gave the VIPs much to cheer about, owner Jorge Garcia may have had the most to cheer about – Garcia was the winner of a set of 17" Konig wheels.

In addition, fourteen other Scion owners were awarded special trophies as category winners and finalists in the Scion-exclusive Scion VIP car show. The award hardware and products were only a small part of what was a big day for Southern California Scion owners – and a perfect way to end the 2006 Scion VIP series.
